European Dog Show 2008

Today, October 4, is World Animal Day. As a part of this celebration the biggest ever dog show of Europe is to be held in Budapest, Hungary, where more than 15,000 dogs will go on show!  A huge indoor exhibition space  and almost an equally large open have been arranged By the Hungarian Kennel Club (the official organisers of the event) for this mega show. 

Besides Hungarian dogs, you will get to see dogs from all over Europe at this show.  The trade shows scheduled are listed as the following

  • Europe Dog Show
  • International Cat Show
  • Small Animal Show (like birds and rodents)
  • Horse Show and Parade

What are the events in which the dogs will participate?  Some of them that dog lovers will eagerly look forward to are as follows

  • Sport and skill dog shows
  • Frisbee
  • Rescue dogs, guard dogs, police dogs and shepherding dogs shows
  • Dog dancing and agility

Other events that will interest dog owners include

  • Displays by the 48 dog breeder Clubs of Hungary
  • Special breed shows
  • Lectures and seminars on dog care and responsible ownership, under the supervision of the Animal Protection Department of the Association of Hungarian Journalists
  • Traditional Hungarian food and drink fair
  • Special shows to showcase the nine Hungarian dog breeds and their habitats
  • Dog and small animal products/equipment fair - in which all European manufacturers of dog related products and equipment will get to showcase their offers
  • Entertainment and games
